□ 2025년 8월 25일(현지 시각), 몽골 울란바토르 국회의사당에서 강성종 신한대학교 총장은 엥흐온드람(ENKH-UNDRAM) 총리실 고문 및 밧자르갈(BATJARGAL) 몽골 교육부 차관과 정책회담을 가졌다. 이번 회담에는 조윤재 신한대학교 대학원장, 이현 교무처장, 권오근 언론홍보처장, 박소정 대학원 부원장이 배석했다.

On August 25, 2025 (local time), Shinhan University President Kang Sung-jong held a policy meeting at the Mongolian Parliament in Ulaanbaatar with ENKH-UNDRAM, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, and BATJARGAL, Vice Minister of Education. The meeting was also attended by Cho Yun-jae, Dean of the Graduate School, Lee Hyun, Director of Academic Affairs, Kweon Oh-geun, Director of Public Relations, and Park So-jeong, Associate Dean of the Graduate School.

 

□ 사전회담임에도 불구하고 예상과 달리 첫날부터 심도 있는 논의가 이어졌고, 회담장은 다소 긴장감이 감돌았다. 그러나 몽골 측은 한국어 교육 확대와 유학생 교류에 대해 긍정적 입장을 내비치며 협력 가능성을 확인했다.

Although intended as a preliminary meeting, in-depth discussions took place from the first day, creating a somewhat tense atmosphere. Nevertheless, the Mongolian side expressed strong interest in expanding Korean language education and student exchanges, reaffirming the potential for cooperation.

□ 강성종 총장은 회담에서 자신과 몽골의 특별한 인연을 강조했다. 그는 “2014년부터 몽골에 와서 고등학생들과 함께 자원봉사를 이어왔고, 당시 학생들이 지금은 신한대학교의 학생으로 성장해 있다”며 “이는 교육이 국경을 넘어 삶을 바꾸는 힘을 갖고 있음을 보여주는 사례”라고 말했다.

President Kang highlighted his special relationship with Mongolia during the meeting. “Since 2014, I have been coming to Mongolia to volunteer with high school students, and many of those students are now enrolled at Shinhan University. This is a clear example of how education transcends borders and changes lives,” he said.

 

□ 그는 또 개인적 경험도 언급했다. “10년 전 몽골에서 큰 교통사고를 당했지만 이를 극복하고 다시 몽골 땅을 밟았다. 이제는 위대한 교육사업의 희망을 안고 몽골과 함께 미래를 만들고 싶다”고 밝혔다.

He also shared a personal story: “Ten years ago, I was in a serious traffic accident in Mongolia. I overcame that hardship and have now returned to this country with renewed hope—to pursue a great educational mission together with Mongolia.”

 

 

- 교육·환경 비전 동시 제시 -

□ 강성종 총장은 단순한 학문 교류를 넘어 환경협력 비전도 제시했다. 그는 “몽골의 미래 세대를 위해 동몽골 지역에 2030년까지 1천만 그루의 나무를 심는 프로젝트를 추진하겠다”며 “신한대학교는 교육과 환경을 동시에 아우르는 협력 모델을 몽골과 함께 만들어가겠다”고 선언했다.

Going beyond academic exchange, President Kang proposed an ambitious environmental vision. “For future generations of Mongolia, I will lead a project to plant 10 million trees in Eastern Mongolia by 2030. Shinhan University will work hand in hand with Mongolia to build a cooperative model that encompasses both education and the environment,” he declared.

 

 

- 신한대-몽골 협력 과제 논의 -

- Discussion of Key Areas of Cooperation -

 

□ 조윤재 대학원장은 “첫날부터 많은 대화를 나눴고, 몽골의 여러 고등학교에서 한국어를 제2외국어로 채택하길 요청했다”며 “앞으로 실질적인 협력의 길이 열릴 것”이라고 평가했다.

Dean Cho Yun-jae said, “Although it was only the first day, we had extensive discussions. Many Mongolian high schools expressed their wish to adopt Korean as a second foreign language. This paves the way for practical cooperation in the near future.”

 

□ 권오근 언론홍보처장은 밧자르갈 차관에게 “몽골 대통령 장학생이 어떻게 선발되는지”를 직접 문의하며, 신한대학교에도 몽골 대통령 장학생이 파견되기를 요청했다.

Director Kweon Oh-geun inquired directly with Vice Minister Batjargal about the selection process for Mongolian Presidential Scholars, requesting that Shinhan University also be designated as a host institution for these outstanding students.

□ 강성종 총장은 엥흐온드람 총리고문과의 대화에서 “몽골 유학생, 교육정책, 한국어 분야에서 긴밀한 협력을 이어가자”며 “특히 신임 잔단샤타르 총리의 취임을 축하하며, 우리 신한대학교는 앞으로 20~30년간 장기적인 희망을 가지고 몽골과 100% 함께하겠다”고 강조했다.

In his dialogue with Advisor Enkh-undram, President Kang stated, “Let us continue close cooperation in the fields of Mongolian students, education policy, and Korean language. I extend my congratulations to Prime Minister Zandanshatar on his inauguration, and I affirm that Shinhan University will stand with Mongolia 100% with long-term hope for the next 20 to 30 years.”

 

□ 이번 회담은 당초 예정 시간보다 20분 길어진 총 1시간 20분 동안 진행되었으며, 양측은 향후 실무 협의를 통해 교육·환경 등 다양한 분야에서 협력 방안을 구체화해 나가기로 했다.

The meeting lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes, extending 20 minutes beyond schedule. Both parties agreed to continue working-level discussions to develop concrete cooperation plans across education, environment, and other fields.
